Yes, you read that right. The World Karate Federation has announced plans to put Karate alongside a few 'other sports' for possible inclusion in the Olympics in Tokyo in 2020. Well we are not a sport-based group but if it brings the Art int othe public eye, this must be a good thing. Suggested categories are individual Kata and Kumite for men and women, with 3 sections for each. Watch this space.

During the Annual Seibukan Taikai in Kyoto in September 2015, Sensei Brian Hinchliffe was awarded an International Teaching Licence and rank of 8th Dan Kyoshi from the Seibukan, Kyoto. This is a very prestigious achievement to be awarded by an excellent, traditional Japanese Martial Arts organisation.

OK everyone who is able to be there, current or former members of the group, would be welcome to the Bexhill Karate Kai dojo on Thursday 29th October ( from 7:00pm til late) where there will be a feedback session following the Japan trip this year. Looking forward to seeing you there...

Please remember that Sensei Brian Hinchliffe will be in Japan again for a while in September and classes will be held by Sempai Adrian and Sempai Atilla. Anyone wanting a postcard from Japan, don't forget to put your address on a piece of paper and bring it on Friday 4th September, the first night back after the summer break.

From September 2015, please note that childrens' classes will be held at Kenilworth Community Centre (Abbey End Car Park) every Friday evening mixed, for kids and adults from 6.30 to 7.30 pm and adults plus senior grade juniors from 7.30 to 9.00 pm.
